Briefly, it is a tool that alerts failure of SQL jobs to operations graphically (and audibly) thus enabling operations personnel to quickly respond and minimise the impact of any failure. As a BACS bureau processing a high volume of automatic payments between banks we have found this enables us to maintain service level agreements. SQL Server Job Monitor started life as an in-house tool. Over the years it has assisted our operations people in their daily tasks of monitoring several SQL databases at our on-site data centre. It has evolved over the years and gained in features as it's relevance to our operation became more noted.
